The Film
OREGON STATE HOSPITAL is a documentary film in pre-production.
Four important steps take place in place in pre-production.
1. We tell the community about our intention to make a documentary film about the Oregon State Hospital.
2. We will gather a team of talented, experienced individuals together to make the film.
3. We raise money to pay for the expenses of making the documentary. Our budget for OREGON STATE HOSPITAL is $190,000.
4. We make a complete survey of the history of the Oregon State Hospital.
Each of these three steps has begun.
Producer Jason Renaud and Brian Lindstrom have begun talking to local and national journalists about the film, this web site has been created, and basic collateral materials for the film have been created.
In 2008 Brian Lindstrom and the Mental Health Association of Portland collaborated on the documentary film ALIEN BOY. With that production a team was formed - and this team will also make OREGON STATE HOSPITAL.
Fundraising has begun for OREGON STATE HOSPITAL. Over the next months you’ll hear about public events, house parties, screenings, and read about the film in the media. You can make a contribution too and help get this film made.
We’ve collected a team of four tenacious researchers to dive in and discover the history of the Oregon State Hospital. The materials and stories this team uncovers will frame how the film considers the current state of the hospital, and draws an understanding of where the institution will go next.
